was very successful in its time resulting in many editions. Gordon-Cumming
describes his hunting expedition beginning in Grahamstown during 1843
leading finally to his meeting with David Livingstone . VOL I includes
an illustration of the author in the title page. "The narrative
is valuable for its description of the country and its inhabitants ,
